Kitchen Remodel and Guest Bathroom in Austin, TX

Homeowner Goals & Challenges

These Austin homeowners wanted to update both the kitchen and guest bathroom, as the existing spaces felt dated and no longer reflected their style. Their goal was to create environments that felt more personal, inviting, and aligned with how they live today.

Our Remodeling Approach

We maintained the existing layout while updating the finishes to bring new life to the space. In the kitchen, a vintage reclaimed door was added to the pantry, creating a distinctive focal point that draws attention upon entry.

The design centers on a natural, layered palette. Perimeter cabinetry and the vent hood are finished in Swiss Coffee, complemented by a striking Dark Olive peninsula and topped with Et Calacatta Gold quartz countertops. Handmade Zellige tile, installed in a vertical stack pattern, adds texture and visual interest, while pendant lighting, under-cabinet lighting, and Kohler fixtures complete the space with warmth and functionality.

In the guest bathroom, a bold wallpaper selection introduces personality and a vibrant pop of color, setting the tone for the space. This energy is balanced by the Petite Star & Cross Le Sol tile used on both the floor and in the shower, adding pattern and visual interest underfoot. The shower walls are finished in white Zellige tile, bringing a soft, reflective quality that helps the room feel brighter and more expansive. Walls and trim are painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove, creating a clean, cohesive backdrop that ties the entire design together.

Remodel Challenge

The original plan included removing a column and relocating the sink to improve the layout. During demolition, we discovered plumbing within the column wall, which required a revised approach. To accommodate the change, we carefully cut and trenched the slab to reroute the drain and install a loop vent, ensuring proper functionality while preserving the design intent.

The Final Outcome

The updated kitchen and guest bathroom now feel cohesive, welcoming, and distinctly personal, perfectly aligned with how the homeowners live today. By maintaining the existing layouts and thoughtfully elevating the finishes, each space was transformed without unnecessary complexity.

Together, these updates bring a renewed sense of character, comfort, and visual harmony to the home, turning previously dated spaces into thoughtfully designed environments that feel both timeless and uniquely theirs.
