Homeowner Goals & Challenges

This project focused on reimagining two bathrooms and transforming a former office into a nursery, with each space designed to feel more modern, personal, and full of character.

For the primary and guest bathrooms, the goal was to move away from dated finishes and create spaces that would feel fresh, inviting, and expressive. Thoughtful material selections, layered color, and intentional details were key to bringing a sense of personality to each room, balancing clean, modern design with moments of warmth and playfulness.

The nursery presented a different kind of opportunity. With a growing family expecting their first child, an existing office needed to be transformed into a functional, comfortable bedroom for their daughter. Working within a smaller footprint, the design needed to maximize every inch while still creating a space that would feel special.

Our Remodeling Approach

Rather than altering the layout, the focus was on completely reimagining each space through materiality, color, and detail. By pairing bold paint and expressive wallpaper with timeless tile and warm, refined finishes, each bathroom was transformed into a space that feels both playful and sophisticated.

Primary Bathroom

The primary bathroom was fully updated with new floor and wall tile, creating a cohesive and elevated foundation for the space. A combination of 8” x 8” Drunken Checkerboard Putty ceramic tile and 4” x 12” Putty cement tile adds subtle movement and visual interest, while maintaining a soft, neutral palette.

Plumbing fixtures were replaced in a champagne bronze finish, complementing the warm tones throughout. A new Kohler rectangular undermount sink was paired with a semi-custom vanity from Alchemy Cabinetry’s Vision Series, featuring slim shaker fronts in a rich, dark wood stain. A floor-to-ceiling storage cabinet with a built-in hamper provides added functionality without compromising the clean aesthetic.

The vanity is topped with MetroQuartz Sono Soleil, which continues into the shower to form a built-in bench, creating a seamless, spa-like feel. The shower also includes a linear drain, a three-shelf niche for storage, and a frameless glass enclosure for a more open, modern look.

To enhance both privacy and natural light, the existing block glass window was replaced with a new window featuring fluted glass.

Guest Bathroom

The guest bathroom embraces a more playful and expressive design direction, combining color, texture, and pattern to create a memorable space.

All existing tile was removed and replaced with a mix of materials that bring depth and contrast. The shower and tub surround features Zagora Triangle glossy Zellige mosaic tile in blanc, while the floor incorporates a honed marble mosaic blend of White Carrara and Bardiglio.

Wallpaper in a rich pine tone wraps the space, complemented by Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog on the trim, door, and ceiling for a fully immersive color palette.

Plumbing fixtures were updated in champagne bronze, and the existing shower glass was replaced with a ceiling-mounted curtain track for a softer, more relaxed feel. A walnut vanity with a Calacatta marble countertop adds warmth and contrast, while a Venetian mirror and Berkshire sconce complete the space with a touch of classic elegance.

Nursery

The former office was thoughtfully transformed into a warm, inviting nursery designed to balance function with personality. Farrow & Ball’s Dead Salmon was applied across the paneled walls, trim, doors, and ceiling, creating a soft, aged character that brings depth and intimacy to the space.

A semi-custom closet layout and pocket door maximize functionality within the smaller footprint, while updated lighting, hardware, and window treatments add both comfort and practicality. Inspired by a woodland theme, the selected colors and finishes come together to create a space that feels cohesive, calm, and welcoming for their growing family.

Remodel Challenge

Working within a limited footprint, the design carefully maximized storage and usability. During demolition, an unexpected void beneath the shower pan required additional structural repair, reinforcing the importance of thoughtful execution behind the scenes.

The Final Outcome

The result is a collection of spaces that feel fresh, expressive, and thoughtfully designed for everyday living. Each room reflects a balance of personality and practicality, creating a home that not only looks beautiful, but supports the way this family lives and grows.
