Transitional Primary Bathroom Remodel in West Lake Hills, TX
Designer: Audrey Scheck | Location: West Lake Hills, TX

Homeowner Goals
As part of a kitchen and great room remodel, these homeowners wanted to refresh their primary bathroom with a more modern look that better reflects their personal style. While the existing layout remained intact, the focus was on thoughtfully updating finishes, materials, and color selections to create spaces that feel more current, cohesive, and uniquely their own.

BEFORE

Our Remodeling Approach
We worked closely with the homeowners and designer to preserve the original character of the home while thoughtfully introducing updates that reflect their personal style.
In the primary bathroom, custom cabinetry painted in Benjamin Moore’s Creamy White and accented with brushed gold hardware creates a soft, timeless foundation, complemented by Classic Calacatta quartz countertops.
A 45-inch pony wall topped with glass defines the new fully enclosed shower, adding both openness and separation. The pony wall also incorporates a centered niche for added functionality. Inside the shower, two shower heads are set against a feature wall of 2.6" x 16" glazed ceramic tile, installed in a distinctive pattern that adds visual interest and texture. The shower floor is finished with a 12" x 12" mosaic tile, while the main bathroom floor features 12" x 24" porcelain tile laid in an offset brick pattern.
Completing the space are elegant gold wall sconces, two 24" x 36" mirrors, and a 60" soaking tub positioned at an angle beneath the windows, paired with a black floor-mounted tub filler, bringing contrast and a refined finishing touch.
Remodel Challenge
The existing shower had a low ceiling that felt especially restrictive for the homeowner. To create a more comfortable and proportionate space, we fully removed the existing shower and ceiling, then rebuilt the area to match the home’s approximately 10-foot ceiling height, bringing it in line with the rest of the house.

The Final Outcome
The result is a primary bathroom that feels both timeless and thoughtfully tailored to the homeowners’ lifestyle. By raising the ceiling and reimagining the shower, the space now feels open, comfortable, and in harmony with the rest of the home. A soft, cohesive palette is layered with warm metallic accents, custom details, and subtle contrast, creating a space that balances elegance with everyday function. The result is a calm, refined retreat designed for both comfort and daily use.
